Privacy note

Last updated: 24 October 2026

1. Who is responsible

Simon Lanker, trading as agape, Marktstrasse 30, 6436 Muotathal, Switzerland ("I").

Contact for anything about your data: privacy@agapeapp.net

2. What I collect

I don't ask for anything else.

3. Why, and on what legal basis

I use your details to keep your place on the waitlist for your city, to credit you both with agape+ when friends join with your link, to know when a city has enough women and men to open, to send you a confirmation email, and, once you confirm, to email you updates about the launch of agape. The optional answers help me understand who is waiting, so I build the right thing.

I do this only with your consent: Art. 6(1)(a) UK GDPR and EU GDPR, and under the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP). agape is a Christian dating app, so your sign-up, and your answer about church, may reveal something about your religious beliefs. That is sensitive data, and I process it only with your explicit consent (Art. 9(2)(a) GDPR). That is why the box is not pre-ticked.

You are not required to join the waitlist. Nothing else depends on it.

4. Confirmation by email

After you sign up, I send you an email with a link. Only when you click it is your address treated as confirmed. If you don't click, I don't send you updates, and your details are deleted after 30 days.

5. What other people can see

Nobody else sees your email or any of your answers. The page shows only total numbers per city (how many women and men have joined). Your position and invite link are shown only to you, right after you sign up.

6. Who receives your data

These providers process data on my behalf, under my instructions:

I don't sell your data, and I don't share it with advertisers.

Some of these providers process data outside Switzerland, the UK and the EEA (for example in the USA). Where that happens, the transfer relies on an adequacy decision or on standard contractual clauses, with the UK addendum and the Swiss adjustments where needed.

7. Security

Your data is encrypted in transit, is stored on a private disk at my hosting provider, and only I have access to it.

8. Cookies and analytics

Without your permission this page uses only technically necessary storage: your answer to the analytics question is remembered in your browser so you are not asked again.

When someone opens one of agape's short links (such as agapeapp.net/ig or a flyer link) or an invite link, the server adds one to a daily count for that link. Nothing about the visitor is stored with it: no cookie, no IP address, no device details. This shows me how many people each channel reaches, and needs no permission.

When you first visit, you are asked whether I may use Google Analytics. Only if you click "Accept" does the page load it. It then sets cookies (named _ga) and tells Google which pages you view, which link or website brought you here, roughly where you are (country and city, from your IP address), your browser and device, and whether you joined the waitlist or confirmed your email. It never receives your email address or your answers. I use it only to see which channels (Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, YouTube, flyers, friends' invites) bring people to agape. Advertising features and Google signals are switched off, and I don't use a tracking pixel.

The legal basis is your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR and UK GDPR, and regulation 6 of the UK Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations). Analytics data is kept for at most 14 months. Google may process it in the USA; that transfer relies on the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and its UK and Swiss extensions, and on standard contractual clauses.

You can change your mind at any time with "Cookie settings" at the bottom of every page. If you say no, Analytics stops and its cookies are removed.

9. How long I keep your data

10. Your rights

You can ask me at any time to give you access to your data, correct it, delete it, restrict its use, or send it to you in a portable format. You can also object to processing.

You can withdraw your consent at any time by emailing privacy@agapeapp.net. This doesn't affect anything I did before. Every update email will also contain an unsubscribe link.

You can complain to the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC) in Switzerland, or to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) in the UK (ico.org.uk). I'd be glad to have the chance to put it right first.

11. Age

This waitlist is only for people aged 18 or over.

12. Changes

If I change this note in a way that matters, I'll update the date above and, where necessary, ask for your consent again.
