faith first.

Some things are worth the wait.

agape is a dating app for single Christians who want to marry a Christian. Every member is verified, matching and messaging are free, and each city opens only when there are enough women and men in it to be worth your time.

Copy change: the brief's one-liner is turned into a plain sentence that answers the three complaints singles raise most: fakes, paywalls, nobody nearby. The age range (18–35) is gone: faith is the filter, and every "nobody near me" review is a density problem that an age cap makes worse. "Faith first." stays as the tagline next to the logo because Eden already uses "Faith-first matching" as a store headline.

Free to join. No card, no app to download yet.

Three fields up front (email, city, woman/man) and one consent line, as the brief asks. The current site's two consent paragraphs are merged into one sentence with the privacy link. Hidden fields carry ref, utm_source, utm_medium, utm_campaign and utm_content, read from the URL on load.

Dating, friends, or both

Tell agape why you're here: a husband or wife, Christian friends nearby, or both. You can switch any time.

Screens from the agape app, still in development. The Seek and chat screens show the founder’s own profile; the match breakdown is an example.

How it works

No swiping. Three steps.

When your city opens

Get verified

A selfie check, then a person on the team reviews your profile. Usually the same day.

Then

Match, talk, meet

See verified believers across your city, message for free, and meet in real life.

Holy's "no swiping" and its visible human review are the two things its reviewers praise most. Stated as three steps so the promise is concrete, not a slogan.

Founding members, in their words

Why they started agape.

I didn't set out to build my own app. I just wanted a Christian dating app that worked for me. Instead I kept matching with people in Colombia, and had to pay just to say hello. Then I went on a date with a Christian woman who told me her messages were full of men in their fifties. If it was that broken for both of us, it was broken for everyone. So I started agape.

Social proof the way Eden and SALT do it (first name, one line, a face), but each quote answers a research complaint: distance, fakes, "everyone at church would know". Ages are shown on purpose: 29, 33 and 54 say "all ages" without a line of copy. These are placeholders; replace with real founding members and their photos, with consent, before launch.

The city race

The first city to reach 100 opens first.

Cities open in waves balanced between women and men, so nobody joins an empty app. Counts update live.

The men-needed line is the lever: single practising Christian women outnumber men about 2:1 in Great Britain, so each city shows what it's short of. The number should be live from the form data, not a static count.

Why agape is different

Four promises, each answering something people hate about dating apps.

Real people

A selfie check and a human review before anyone appears. No bots, no stolen photos, no "engineer abroad".

Free to talk

Matching and messaging your matches cost nothing.

Full from day one

Your city opens only when it's ready, with women and men in balance. Real people near you, not 300 miles away.

Beyond your church, within your faith

Meet believers across your city, and choose to stay hidden from your own congregation if you'd rather they didn't know.

Each promise maps to a review theme with evidence: fakes (Upward 60+ reviews), paywalls (all four apps), distance (Upward, Holy's 60-mile minimum, SALT's 500 km), and the "everyone at church would know" worry. The fourth promise is the one no competitor makes.

I went on a date with a Christian woman who told me her messages were full of men in their fifties. Meanwhile I was only matching with people in Colombia, and paying just to say hello. That's when I knew I had to start agape: real Christians, near you, free to talk.

Drafted in Simon's voice for him to rewrite; every claim in it comes from the review research. Holy's founders are the most-mentioned trust signal in its reviews, so this sits above the promises' proof, not in a footer.

Safety and verification. He reviews profiles and answers reports.

I check every profile before it goes live, and I'm the one who replies if something's wrong. Same day, with my name on it.
Holy's reviewers thank "Karen" by name. SALT replies to reviews as "Olivia" and "Mel". A named person is the cheapest trust signal there is, so the verification screen, the safety page and every reply carry one. Both quotes are drafts; names are placeholders.

Safety, in plain English

  • A person reviews every profile before it goes live, and re-checks when photos change.
  • Report anyone, get a reply the same day from a named member of the team, not a form.
  • Hide yourself from your own church with one switch. Nobody from your congregation sees you unless you choose.
  • No ads, no selling your data, and no countdown offers. What's free stays free.
SALT leads with press logos (Vogue, GQ, BBC, Church Times). We can't invent those, so the bar shows churches and student groups as placeholders until there are real names; swap to press logos when there are any.

Our mission

To help Christians find a husband or wife who shares their faith, in a place built on trust rather than swiping.
